The ADAM Audio A5X is one of ADAM Audio’s most popular and versatile compact nearfield monitor speakers, with applications from recording to post production to broadcast. It features ADAM Audio's X-ART folded-ribbon tweeter, common to all AX Series speakers, combined with a 5.5-inch woofer, each powered by a 50W amplifier, delivering an SPL of 110 dB at one meter.

A GREAT ALL-ROUNDER

Offering great all-round performance in any environment, especially home studios, the active two-way design of the A5X, which is designed to be oriented vertically, offers a balanced performance across its frequency range. It delivers transparent high-frequency reproduction, clear mids and bass extension down to 50 Hz, thanks to the precisely tuned dual front baffle ports.

High frequencies are handled by ADAM Audio’s X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter, which offers a dramatic improvement in the audio reproduction quality over conventional piston-like drivers. The tweeter’s pleated membrane, handmade in Germany to exacting tolerances, can move the air four times faster than conventional tweeter diaphragms, and with no distortion. The result is natural and transparent high frequency response with minimal listener fatigue, enabling you to work for longer periods of time and with more accuracy.

The A5X’s woofer, which handles frequencies below 2.5 kHz, is made from a carbon/Rohacell/glass fiber composite that reduces weight but offers extreme rigidity, eliminating break-up resonances in the diaphragm cone.

The 50W PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) amplifier driving the woofer is combined with a 50W Class A/B amp for the tweeter to generate a maximum SPL of 110 dB at one meter. PWM, also known as Class D amplification, offers extremely high efficiency with a significant reduction in heat compared to previous designs.

CONVENIENT CONNECTIONS

The rear panel of the A5X includes balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors and a tweeter gain control. The A5X also offers a Stereolink feature that provides additional input and output jacks for the second stereo channel, enabling you to control the volume of both speakers from a single control. You can fine-tune the second speaker using a separate volume control to compensate for listening distance differences. Either speaker can be a master or slave. Two M6 (6 mm) metric screw threads are provided for stand or wall mounting.
